Midjourney calls itself a community-funded research lab of 60 people that builds AI models. You use those models to generate images and video, working on the Midjourney website or in Discord, where product questions and support are also handled alongside a help page.
Everything runs on GPU time. Each plan includes a monthly allowance of Fast GPU time, from 3.3 hours (200 minutes) on Basic to 60 hours on Mega, and more can be bought at $4/hr. Relax mode is slower but, on Standard, Pro and Mega, image generation in Relax is unlimited; Pro and Mega also allow unlimited Relax SD video. Video comes in SD on every plan and in HD from Standard up. You can also queue jobs, run repeat and permutation jobs, and rate images to earn free GPU time.
There are four tiers: Basic, Standard ($30), Pro ($60) and Mega ($120), each listed per month. Annual versions are $96, $288, $576 and $1,152. Stealth Mode, which keeps your images and videos private, is limited to Pro and Mega, and companies with more than $1,000,000 USD in gross annual revenue must buy one of those two.
