Khanmigo

Khan Academy's AI-powered teaching assistant and tutor

FreemiumChecked

Khanmigo is an AI tutor and teaching assistant from the nonprofit Khan Academy. Teachers can sign up for free, while parents and learners need a monthly or annual payment whose amount the site does not list. U.S. schools and districts can buy Enterprise Starter at $10 per student per year, billed annually. It is built for students who study and teachers who plan lessons.

What Khanmigo does

The tutoring side of Khanmigo is designed not to hand over answers. A student types a question, and Khanmigo walks them toward working it out themselves, which also applies to homework a child brings to it. It draws on the Khan Academy content library in math, humanities, coding and social studies, and covers learners from elementary school through college. A Writing Coach adds writing practice and instruction.

Teachers get a separate set of tools aimed at prep work: standards-aligned lesson plans tied to Khan Academy content, quiz questions, exit tickets, learning objectives, hooks, student groupings and a Rubric Generator. An on-demand summary of recent student work helps a teacher see who needs more support. Teachers cannot grant students access on their own, though; classroom use comes only through a school or district.

Access rules differ by audience. Educators 18 or older in eligible countries can sign up for free. Parents and adult learners must pay monthly or annually, be 18 or older and have a U.S. residence and billing address, and a parent subscription can cover up to 10 children under 18. Districts choose between Enterprise Starter for 1,000 or fewer student licenses and a custom-priced Enterprise plan, both adding administrator reporting and single sign-on.
